Meadows Montessori School is seeking a dedicated Montessorian to join our community as Assistant Head of School.

Located on over five acres just north of the city of Bellingham, WA and a quick drive to the Canadian border, Meadows Montessori is a beautiful place to work! Our school is home to a small flock of wool producing sheep and a number of laying hens. The MMS campus is full of plants, fruit trees, and all kinds of wildlife to observe. With close proximity to Western Washington University and both Lummi and Nooksack Nations, our staff and students have a diversity of opportunities to learn from and connect with our greater community.

The Assistant Head of School will collaborate with the Head of School in running the day-to-day operations of the school including admissions & enrollment, human relations, certification, accreditation, and administrative duties. This position supports the Head of School in carrying out organizational policies, implementing the board’s strategic plan, and upholding the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) guidelines. 

The Assistant Head of School (AHoS) is the director of admissions and enrollment. They are an integral member of the school leadership team, working in collaboration with the Head of School, Curriculum Coordinator and the Business Operations Administrator.

The AHoS also upholds the school's mission and vision. Providing support and guidance to the MMS community, the AHoS helps to maintain a respectful and collaborative atmosphere through regular communication with all members.

Serving children ages 15 months through 12 years, Meadows Montessori School (MMS) is committed to a high-quality Montessori education with affordable tuition, reaching an economically, racially, and culturally diverse community. MMS engages in a whole child, place based approach to our curriculum.

Candidates should hold AMI certification at any level, a Bachelor’s degree or higher, and have a minimum of two years in a leadership role. Additional qualifications include:

  • Experience working in administration, preferably in a Montessori or other independent school

  • Knowledge of WA State DCYF requirements and processes

  • Meets DCYF pre-service & hiring requirements for Assistant Director role

  • Ability to communicate clearly, kindly, and effectively

  • Commitment to working collaboratively as part of a team

  • Strong leadership skills and initiative

  • Dynamic and mindful approach to problem solving

  • Keen attention to detail

  • A sense of humor!
